This 1-day workshop will focus on construction only. Students select their fabric choices prior to the class, and all materials will be pre-cut and ready for you.
Who is ‘Bag-making with Oskar’ aimed at?
Intermediate sewists. You should have confident sewing skills and be able to sew straight accurate seams and hems.
What will I learn?
- Understanding Bag Patterns and Structures: Gain a brief overview of different types of bag patterns and structures, laying the foundation for your handbag-making skills.
- Interlining Selection: Learn how to select suitable interlining for future projects to ensure your handbags maintain their shape and durability.
- Textile and Leather Attachment Skills: Develop practical skills in sewing textiles and attaching leather components, essential for creating high-quality handbags.
- Hardware Integration: Understand how to choose and use various types of hardware to enhance your handbag designs, adding a professional and luxurious touch.

- Measurement: Choose from Small: 13”w x 12”h x 3.5”d or Medium: 15”w x 13”h x 3.5”d
- Harris Tweed of your choice with official label
- Printed/jacquard fabric of your choice
- Genuine leather straps with bronze hardware (shoulder length with 11” drop)
- Central and side closure leather tabs with popper button
- Leather bottom with brass feet
- Optional gold foiled leather name tag* (Add £10 select option when booking and state the name required when asked on the booking form)
- Open pockets (2 to 4 compartments based on your needs)
- Protective style-vil foam interlining
- Black cotton lining
What is included in the fee?
All materials, sewing machines, tools and equipment required will be provided during the class.
Fabric Choices
Please refer HERE for fabric choices. Please confirm your fabric choices with Oskar through Whatsapp/email at least 1 week prior to the class.
If you wish to use your own fabric(s), please let Oskar know in advanced for arrangement. All fabrics need to be pre-cut prior to the class due to the time constraints.

What do I need to bring?
- Notebook and pen if you would like to drop notes
- A tote bag/carry bag for carrying your finished project
- You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine. If you do, remember the power cable/foot control and bobbins.
About Oskar
Oskar holds a diploma in Fashion & Textile Design and worked as costume designer for theatre in both Ireland and Hong Kong for six years. In 2017, he founded an online brand Oskar’s Bespoke Bag Maker to provide bespoke bag-making service. Since 2019, he has been running over 100 bag-making workshops for over 500 students with 100% completion rate. In 2022, Oskar relocated to Edinburgh and continued to follow his passion of bag-making and sharing experience through workshops. He works in a renowned Scottish Tailors & Kilt makers which holds Royal Appointments as to HM King Charles III and HRH The Prince of Wales.
