Join our 6-week Alter, Repair & Upcycle sewing course to learn essential techniques for breathing new life into your clothes. Why throw them away when you can repair, alter, and upcycle? This hands-on course teaches you how to mend garments, make simple alterations, and transform old pieces into something new. Save money, reduce waste, and embrace a more sustainable lifestyle with the skills you’ll gain. Plus, you’ll discover the hidden potential of charity shop finds and turn them into unique, stylish pieces!

Course Highlights:

  • Duration: 6 weeks, 13.5 hours total
    Wednesdays: 6:15 PM – 8:30 PM
  • Ideal For: Those with intermediate sewing skills who want to elevate their skills in clothing repairs, alterations, and upcycling.

Why Alter, Repair & Upcycle?

Fast fashion is one of the biggest contributors to environmental waste. Each year, over 100 billion new garments are produced, while millions of tonnes of clothing end up in landfills. Instead of contributing to this cycle, learn to alter, repair, and upcycle your clothes and support the sustainable fashion movement. Not only will you save money, but you’ll also develop a rewarding, eco-friendly hobby that helps the planet.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Mending by Hand & Machine: Learn to repair split seams, sew on buttons, take up hems, patch holes, and darn sweaters.
  • Simple Alterations: Adjust ill-fitting clothes to achieve the perfect fit.
  • Creative Upcycling: Turn tired garments into fresh, stylish pieces by repurposing fabric or combining different garments into something completely new.

Materials Needed:

  • Notebook and basic sewing kit (fabric shears, trimming scissors, pins, quick unpick, chalk marking pencil).
  • Bring your damaged, poorly fitting, or worn-out clothes.
  • Any fabric scraps or old garments for upcycling or patching. Ribbons & trims are good for covering seams where you’ve added a bit!
