Cannot recommend highly enough

I have participated in a number of sewing and textile art courses run by Jen. I started 4 years ago with a beginners sewing course followed by an improvers sewing course. I completed a beginners dressmaking course and much to my astonishment managed to successfully sew a skirt! My main interest is however in the textile art workshops Jen has run – mostly pre Covid times but I am delighted to read in the most recent newsletter that she will be offering more textile art courses this year. I highly recommend the free motion embroidery workshop. For experienced – and not so experienced sewers – it offers a new skill to add to the sewing skills toolbox – like drawing with a sewing machine! I’ve already signed up to the print, collage, stitch workshop in May and was delighted to read in the newsletter that there will be a couple of textile art courses in the summer school programme this year – am particularly interested in the print, stitch, quilt course.

Jen is a very skilled and knowledgeable teacher – of sewing, dressmaking and all things textile art. She puts even the most inept aspiring sewer (me) at ease, instills confidence, has a wealth of practical tips up her sleeve and is always calm and reassuring. She is not just an excellent teacher, she has a range of examples of her own sewing and amazing textile art on display in the workshop.

Gosh Jenny, be careful or my head won’t fit through the door. Thank you so much for that amazing review. I’m looking forward to catching up when you come in May, and yes ‘Print, Stitch, Quilt’ is definitely up your street.

Beginners Sewing Course XL has given me the skills to do so much more! This group class was so much FUN! Jen is an incredibly experienced teacher and will lift your level in a relaxed and friendly environment. Her attention to detail and little tips throughout the course will build your confidence one step at a time. We learned all the basics for the sewing machine, sewed seams, hems, zippers and so much more! Our sewing projects were challenging and rewarding.

THANK YOU JEN!

I can’t wait to visit Artisan Stitch Studio again!

Curtain Making Workshop

November 18, 2024

I recently attended the curtain making workshop and found it invaluable. I did not realise there is so much to consider when making curtains! Jen guided us all through each stage and made sure we understood each part of the process. Jen also kindly made the offer of contacting her with any further queries after the workshop. I now feel able and confident I have all the tools to make a fabulous set of curtains.

Curtain Confidence

November 12, 2024

Attended the curtain making class to learn techniques for producing curtains. However, as with all of Jen’s courses it was SO much more! Spent a great deal of time on calculating fabric requirements, pattern repeats, hem allowance etc etc. all the things I hadn’t even thought would be ‘tricky’; but was led skilfully through this whole process. Jen is truly a master and makes sure you come away knowing all of the preparation and planning of a project. We proceeded on to make a little curtain. perfect in every way and again with proper technique, learning precise detail and able to return home to tackle that project I had in mind prior to attending her tutorial. Another fabulous experience.

Love Artisan Stitch courses I’m learning so much!

The perfect reintroduction to sewing

Beginner’s sewing course XL

Once upon a time I used to make quite a few things but lately it had mostly been gathering dust and I’d forgotten so much that I was scared to try again.

Jen’s patient, précise and thorough introduction was exactly what I needed. After two days I know far more than I ever did – but she has also instilled in me the confidence to tackle such challenges as button holes and zips, calmly and carefully.

I can highly recommend this enjoyable course to complete novices or rusty sewers like myself, and will definitely be signing up for more courses with Artisan Stitch.

Hi Kate,

Thanks for your review of the Beginners Sewing Course XL. I’m glad you’ve taken time to write this as a ‘returner’. Many people overlook this course because they don’t see themselves as a ‘Beginner’ but it’s a useful refresher and to fill gaps.
